What we do:
Our service is from ‘concept to commissioning’. We work with you to identify your precise energy requirements, the suitability of your location and the fuels most readily available for your boiler. We guide you through the paperwork needed to obtain the Renewable Heat Incentive payments and will complete the paperwork on your behalf if you would like us to do so. We provide guidance on planning, finance and the size of boiler that is best for you. We project manage the entire process and carry out the installation and commissioning.
Why it began:
Through our sister company Aeolus Power (Wind-Energy) we know that wind energy is not suitable for all farms: this can be a result of low wind speeds, planning permission being difficult (in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for example) or the farm is too remote for the turbine to be connected to the national grid. For these farmers biomass is usually eminently suitable.
For farms with a wind turbine or solar panels already installed, biomass can provide a much needed additional heat source.
We discuss with you the needs of your farm or estate, the crops and livestock you have and the possible biomass fuel sources. Your installation will be designed specifically for you, installed in the most suitable location and all the paperwork will be completed with you to ensure you can benefit from the Renewable Heat Incentive.
We work as a team; we know the process and so can guide you through it to ensure a safe, successful and cost effective biomass boiler installation.
Christine Griffiths, Director, who in 2012 was a finalist for the national Business Woman of the Year award and the Outstanding Woman in Construction award manages & directs Aeolus Power (Biomass) Limited.
Christine was brought up on a farm in Cornwall and understands the challenges, needs and opportunities available to farmers in the area of renewable energy.
Peter Griffiths, Director, whilst Christine runs the company from its head office near Bristol, Pete is usually working alongside our installation team and providing guidance on where to site the biomass boiler. He understands the importance of a step by step approach to a suitable, successful & safe biomass boiler installation.
Matt McKerrow, Biomass Consultant Engineer, has a background in agriculture coming from a family farm in the Scottish Borders where he became increasingly involved in forestry before diversifying into arboriculture. With the increasing interest in renewable energy he took the decision to re-train by studying for a degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering (Hons) with a Post Graduate diploma in mechanical engineering.
Since his degree he has worked for 3 years with a farmers co-operative as Renewables Co-ordinator offering guidance and installations of all renewable technologies but with a particular focus on developing the wood fuel supply chain from farms. Matt joined Aeolus in September to focus on biomass and to use his experience to design and install systems using a holistic approach to optimise their efficiency.
Kate Forss, Office Manager, manages the company’s accounts.
